The main library contains an important pillar of the educational process, represents a source of knowledge and science at the university. It involves books, which are the third pillar after instructors and the curriculum. Most of the students spend their time in the Central Library’s halls and its corridors of classifications. Nowadays, the sources of knowledge have increased and varied with our entry into the virtual world, where it has become very necessary for the library to keep pace with technological developments that facilitate the movement of scientific research at the university. Therefore, attention should be paid to the digital and virtual library. It should also shed light on the automatic indexing as well as electronic archiving in order to be a virtual alternate which deals with electronic books through the digital space.
The administration of the main Library seeks to provide the best research services to various classes of society whether they are academic or non-academic. The Central Library is keen on extending bridges between itself, the community and the movement of authorship outside the institution, in addition to providing research services for students, instructors, and researchers in undergraduate and higher studies. It does so not only by holding permanent and temporary book fairs and exchanging experiences between the Central Library and other public and private libraries, but also by holding educational seminars, training courses and workshops to develop the skills of the staff and to exchange experiences and electronic programs.
To achieve this, the general secretariat aims to:
-Develop the skills of the staff by throwing them into training courses, especially in the field of virtual world, to keep pace with the e-learning movement, meet the needs of learners and researchers, and to benefit from the digital and virtual library.
-Connect the Main Library with the local, Arab and international web in order to benefit from widely published sources and references.
-Create a suitable research environment for students and researchers by providing market services with competitive prices, such as providing CDs, reproducing books, theses and academic journals.
-Use modern technology and software in providing reliable information and preserving copyrights for authors and publishing houses.
-Hold joint exhibitions between official and non-official institutions and bookshops, activate the principle of gifting and exchanging books, and spread the culture of reading in society.
