Basra University inaugurates a center for Persian language studies and teaching in the General Secretariat of the Central Library

Coinciding with the passing of the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan Mujtaba (peace be upon him) and the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan, the University of Basra inaugurated a new scientific edifice represented by the Center for Persian Language Studies and Teaching located in the General Secretariat of the Central Library in the Bab Al-Zubair Colleges Complex, in the presence of the Iranian Consul General, Mr. Ali Abdi, and with a warm reception from Mr. Rais University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the Secretary-General of the Central Library, Dr. Mohsen Abdul Hai Dasher, in the presence of a number of college deans, professors and university employees.

On the purpose of the opening, the President of the University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, said, “In these blessed days of the holy month of Ramadan and the birth of the grandson of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him), and in implementation of the agreements and scientific memoranda of understanding concluded between the University of Basra and many Iranian universities and ratified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research Scientific and instructions issued by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, we open today the scientific edifice represented by this center in order to support the central library of the university with the cultural and scientific pillars to be a station to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and culture between Iraqi students and those wishing to complete their studies in Iranian universities.

After the blessed month of Ramadan, Basra University will witness the opening of another edifice, in return, represented by the Center for Studies and Teaching Arabic Language at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad Governorate, in order to complete the knowledge exchange of experiences and competencies, providing all that researchers and students need in their fields of specialization from both parties, Shaheen added - as you know We have more than ten thousand Iraqi students who continue to study in Iranian universities and they are on the increase, so there was a need to establish this center to facilitate their prior knowledge of the Persian language, culture and specialized study materials, and to provide information on how to issue documents and academic certificates and many other scientific matters.
