In the presence and direct supervision of the Secretary General of the Central Library, Dr. Thikra Muhammad Kazem, the regular meeting of branch librarians of the University of Basra was held in the Central Library. The meeting dealt with identifying the most important problems and obstacles facing workers in branch libraries, ways to overcome them, and the need to intensify efforts and work to provide the best service to beneficiaries and patrons. The library also works on holding courses and workshops in order to develop the capabilities and skills of library specialists and keep pace with developments in the field of information and libraries.

It was also agreed to form specialized committees by the Central Library Secretariat in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Abbasid Shrine in order to select the branch library that is distinguished in providing services to beneficiaries. This initiative is a new and pioneering experience. The winning library will be honored with valuable prizes by the Central Library Secretariat and the Abbasid Holy Shrine, and this will be circulated. The experiment was conducted on all university libraries in Iraq in an effort to advance our libraries and motivate people to provide the best service to our dear students.
