The General Secretariat of the Central Library, in cooperation with the Holy Abbasid Shrine, organized a competition to choose the best branch library in the colleges and centers of the University of Basra according to criteria set by the committee assigned for this purpose, including the mechanism for preserving paper and digital sources, digitizing sources, and electronic systems used in indexing and classifying sources, how to obtain them, and participating in exhibitions and electronic books. Available to serve beneficiaries, and based on the directives of the Secretary-General, Dr. Dhikra Muhammad Kazem, committees were appointed by the Central Library distributed at the Bab al-Zubair and Karma Ali sites and the medical colleges for field visits to the libraries, after which the best three branch libraries were honored by the Abbasid Shrine.
