The General Secretariat of the Central Library at the University of Basra organized a symposium on terrorism and intellectual extremism. The symposium aimed to raise awareness of all segments of society, especially students, about the danger of violent extremism that leads to terrorism, its causes and its treatments. The symposium, in which Colonel Fouad Mohser Jassim from the Second Police College lectured, included a definition of the concept of extremism, its causes and motives, as well as a definition of terrorism, its characteristics, types and causes, as well as the concept of terrorism in the Holy Qur’an, Sharia, and the opinion of Iraqi law on violence and its dangers.
