The University of Basra holds a course on modern indexing of periodicals according to the rules of describing sources and making them available

The General Secretariat of the Central Library  at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Center for Cataloging and Information Systems of the Abbasid Holy Shrine, held a training course for library staff  entitled Modern Cataloging of Periodicals According to the Modern Cataloging Rules (RDA), which is an abbreviation (Resource Description and Access). The course delivered by Mr. Ali Talib Kazem, who specializes in indexing library sources at the al-Abbas Shrine, included how to index periodicals according to the rules of modern indexing and MARC. It is in two phases: theoretical and practical, descriptive and objective indexing. The course aims to prepare indexers capable of indexing periodicals for the purpose of condensing the library’s modern holdings and showing them to beneficiaries in a way that keeps pace with development.
