Abbasiah holy shrine was held ceremony to honour the winning libraries in the competition of the best college library at the university of Basrah. The Digital Information Centre of the Library and House of Manuscripts of the Abbasiah shrine in the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs of the Holy shrine was the supervisor at the competition and the ceremony. Director of the Centre mr Ammar AlJawad said that the General Secretariat of holy shrine organised ceremony to honour the winning sub- libraries at the university of Basrah , this honour gives to the Winn in the competition among sub-libraries and it’s evaluation according to special standards set by specialised committes by the central library at the university of Basrah, these committees have made field visits to all the universityś sub-library. He adds that all sub-libraries in university of Basrah participant this competition. Three Libraries won the result first one Library of the college of Law , second one Library of college of Fine Arts and the third one is the Library of college of Engineering. Al-Jawad said that the aims from this events sponsored by Abbasiah holy shrine to encourage the library and information sector and supporting the scientific movement in Iraq, to give the best for researchers and professors in Iraqi universities and for all students. Mr Marwan Abdul razaq who is the responsible for the development of Iraqi libraries, said that Abbasiah holy shrine made efforts to develop the working of Iraqi libraries,resources development, the cataloguing that improves it for researchers to reach it better, developing courses for the development of employees in university library indexes and organising archiveing by repairing damaged and old sources. The representative of the General Secretariat of the central library at the university of Basrah mr Samir Mohammed Jasmin said that the Holy shrine initiative supports the scientific movement at the University and urges libraries in Iraqi universities to provide the best services to researchers, professors and students.
