Iraq is first in the Arab world and seventh in the world, and Basra University is first among Iraqi universities in the British Times classification 2024.

The University of Basra topped the British Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 for the fourth year in a row, ranking first locally, followed by the University of the Future, then the University of Baghdad. These advanced ranks led to Iraq being ranked first in the Arab world and seventh in the world out of (125) countries around the world. the world.
Sixty-two Iraqi universities and colleges entered the classification for this year and registered competitive positions in the Times Sustainable Development Classification in the 2024 edition, which included (2,152) educational institutions from (125) countries. The published official results indicated that the University of Basra ranked first (401-600) globally. Then the University of the Future (601-800), followed by the University of Baghdad in the center (601-800).

It is noteworthy that the British Times Sustainable Development Classification evaluates universities by achieving a number of (17) United Nations goals, including quality of education, health and well-being, partnerships, industry and innovation.
