The General Secretariat of the Central Library organized an educational seminar on the crimes of the Baath Party and their impact on human rights violations. The seminar, delivered by Dr. Maha Jawad, included identifying the crimes of the Baath Party that extended since the party took power, including the crimes committed by the party against opposition forces, such as suppressing the popular uprising and the assassinations of prominent scientific, academic and religious figures, as well as crimes of genocide and mass graves such as the Anfal campaign and war crimes. The seminar included the display of video clips and photos documenting the crimes of the victims in the mass graves, and a group of documents and decisions of the former regime. The seminar aims to introduce future generations to the “crimes” committed by the Baath Party, which ruled the country for nearly four decades, and which caused many crimes and human rights violations that were classified as crimes of genocide.
