The University of Basra team won the Iraqi Universities Futsal Championship Cup after defeating its counterpart, Al-Mustansiriya University, on penalty kicks (4-3) in the tournament organized by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, Student Activities Department, and hosted by the University of Mosul and the Northern Technical University. Dr. Ghassan Al-Bajari, Director of the Student Activities Department, stated, "Our match today against the opposing team was difficult and competitive, but with determination, persistence, and a unified team spirit, we won the championship title and returned to Basra Governorate carrying the cup." Dr. Al-Bajari added, "I extend my thanks to the coaching and technical staff and our players, represented by the head of the delegation, Dr. Athir Abbas, Dr. Abdul-Ali Jaafar, Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Amir, and Dr. Diaa Askar, for their great efforts during the preliminary qualifying period and early preparation until obtaining first place." He concluded his speech by saying, "We must not forget the role of our beloved university, represented by the University President, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, and the distinguished administrative and academic assistants, and their continuous support." For such important activities, we dedicate this great achievement to them, hoping that the Almighty will grant us success and raise the name of our university high.
