The University of Basra and the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine are moving nearly a thousand heritage magazines to the digital world.

The General Secretariat of the Central Library of the University of Basra and the Indexing and Information Systems Center of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine were able to archive and classify approximately (1000) heritage magazines and periodicals in print and transfer them to the World Wide Web (the Internet). Regarding this huge academic and cognitive achievement, the Secretary-General of the Library, Dr. Abman Shamkhi Jaber, said, "Nearly a thousand heritage magazines and periodicals were uploaded to the Iraqi Knowledge Portal website - as a first batch - to the World Wide Web to be available to readers and those interested in the intellectual and cognitive heritage of the city of Basra within the joint cultural cooperation project concluded with the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine. The process was carried out according to the latest systems for indexes and site data that facilitate access to information for network users using more than one described method."
