Libraries are one of the most important sources for studying the history of Iraq before Christ, and they played a major role in preserving the cultural heritage of Iraq. The emergence of writing and blogging is considered one of the most important cultural achievements that the ancient Iraqis presented to the world. Which contributed to preserving and documenting their cultural and civilizational memory. Libraries in ancient Iraq varied from temple libraries, government libraries, and personal libraries.

Among the most important and famous of these libraries is the library of the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal (668-627 BC), which included more than (25) clay tablets in various fields, as it included (medical, economic, astronomical, religious and historical texts, codification of grammar and royal messages), with a precise organization in Archiving and classification by placing identification cards that included the titles of the panels and their contents. This indicates the level of sophistication and progress reached by the ancient Iraqis
