The General Secretariat of the Central Library, in cooperation with the Community Police Department in Basra, organized a symposium on the scourge of drugs and its impact on the individual and society. The symposium, which was lectured by Lieutenant Colonel Muntadher Kazim Ne’ma from the Community Police, aimed to raise awareness among students of the dangers of the scourge that is devastating societies and has a negative impact on the health of the user, his family and society. The symposium included the concept of drugs and psychotropic substances, clarifying the concept of drug abuse and addiction, and the impact of these substances on humans, their nervous system and neurotransmitters, and consequently affecting all vital organs of the body, their types and the legal materials included in the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
